I looked over to see my 3-year-old Sky, touching my stretch marks and following them with her fingers.
She said “Oh mommy are you hurt?”
I told her “No mommy’s not hurt, those are my stretch marks, they remind my heart that I grew you and baby Jax in my belly.” Sky then, said “Ohh momma” and continued to tickle my silvery lines and then leaned in for a soft little kiss for them.
My heart broke and stood tall in that moment.
It felt like she was thanking me for expanding for her and her brother.
I will never again look down and pass negative thoughts about my kiss-worthy little stripes.
