"You muted me for over a year.
Now people are on mute so I can finally tell my story. I no longer fear you enough to stay muted.
The aggressive banging on my door that afternoon has created a fear inside me…
Now every time a stranger, family member, or friend comes knocking at my door I’m instantly startled.
I did everything right the only thing I couldn’t do right was be white.
After the arrest I moved from my home because I no longer felt like I could call 911 in an instance of an emergency.
I moved from my home because you took me across my neighborhood in front of my neighbors and friends in handcuffs.
I moved from my home because you invaded my safe place.
Could you imagine not feeling comfortable calling 911?
There are many people who live this reality EVERY SINGLE DAY!
By sharing my story I’m not looking for revenge.
What I am looking for is EQUALITY!
To my BLACK brothers & sisters I hear your cries, I’m listening to your stories, & I STAND WITH YOU.
To my WHITE brothers & sisters, I see you learning, listening, and sharing not only our stories yet our worth. THANK YOU!
We love you!
I have faith in my heart that this will be a beautiful part of our history, where at the end we can finally say we are equal. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 “
