For the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, flag creator Gilbert Baker was commissioned to make the world’s largest rainbow flag for New York Pride, 1994.
The flag took months of planning and work done by teams of volunteers.
A giant display of power, solidarity and triumph for Queer people, the rainbow flag is continually used to showcase love and celebration of the community.
This year, you may see versions of this flag with a brown and black stripe added to the rainbow - paying necessary attention to issues faced by Brown and Black members of the LGBTQ+ community.
This year, we remember that during Pride (and beyond) equality is for everyone.
Diversity, equity and inclusion is necessary and can help us strengthen our ally-ship together🏳️🌈
