“When I was 6 years old I dressed up like Barbie in a wedding dress and I wanted to marry a kid named Zachary. When I watched my parents divorce a year later and saw them break each other’s hearts, I curled up into my aunt’s chest and looked at her and said “I will never get married.” When I was a teenager I would put pillows underneath my shirt at night to imagine what it would be like to have a baby. When I was in my early 20’s I was obsessed with the idea of finding my soulmate. In my late 20’s when I gained an idea of just how severe climate change is and how destructive we are as people, I vowed to be anti natal and rebelled against the idea that as a woman I *need* to have children. Why did I even want them? To fulfill what needs exactly? My views at 30 have softened and have changed a slight bit but what I am most happy about is that I am okay either way. I don’t feel the identity of motherhood pulling on me the way it did, I’m more than the potential of being a mother. I’m more than the idea of a wife. I am a person first. I am a whole entity before I break myself off into other identities.” The incredible @kenziebrenna took our breath away with this one. Thank you for sharing your perspective, Kenzie. #ChildlessByChoice #LifeAfterBirth
