“When I was a teenager I began to look at all the body parts I wanted to have surgery on. I wanted to remove my stomach, I wanted to remove my thighs, I wanted to have larger and more evened breasts, I wanted to get a nose job and I wanted to get my lips done.  Whenever I looked through magazines I looked through them for women I wanted to *look* like, never searching for what I wanted to *be.*  Because what I wanted to be was desired, I wanted to be loved, I just wanted belonging.  Good lord, I wanted belonging so bad it felt like I was starving for it.  And I thought that if I looked a certain way I would finally belong. I would finally *be* what I wanted. but for so many years I felt like a ghost because I wasn’t anything to myself, I was just constantly searching for the opinions of others.  It's a hard and long road getting away from that and actually becoming something for yourself because of yourself.  The best way to be desired? Turn inward.  Get to know yourself and begin to desire yourself.  Best way to be loved? Turn inward.  Get to know yourself and begin to love that being.  Best way to belong? Turn inward.  Commit to your authenticity. Your village will come. Turn inward.  Turn inward. Turn inward.  Everything you want is right inside.” Words from the powerful @kenziebrenna to go along with this gorgeous portrait from our #LoveYourShape shoot.
