It pays to take risks—and @adweek’s spotlight on our newest TV spot, ‘Blood Sweat & Pee,’ shows it.
“For a long time, marketing has leaned on sanitized, neatly rendered images of the body to sell products, from cutely trimmed bushes to signify pubic hair to menstrual product campaigns that carefully skirt around the word ‘blood.’ All of this has contributed to the public's perception of different bodies amongst the genders—perceptions that have ultimately shaped discriminatory practices and movements.
But humane marketing like this has real power of its own, and we're better off for it.
If advertising continues to creatively push back against stigma, we may begin to see a genuinely positive impact on how we view and treat different bodies,” writes Creative & Inclusion Editor Shannon Miller for @adweek’s Ad of The Day yesterday.
From @drengozi throwing red paint on the walls to the fabulous @ransomdrumlab drumming in the glitter of golden yellow, a lot of blood, sweat and tears (pun intended) went into the making of our latest commercial.
Coming soon to TV sets near you, we hope our new anthem gets stuck in your head as much as it’s gotten stuck in ours. Here’s to taking risks, breaking boundaries all while bleeding, sweating and peeing each step of the way.
