“I laid on the floor yesterday with my mother on the phone for 215 minutes
We were silent but my mind was loud.
Every minute that passed by my heart got heavier
Each and every one of those beautiful souls deserved a life of so much more than they got.
The last Residental School may have closed in 1996 but it doesn’t end there
My Kokum is a Residential School Survivor, her hair was cut, she was starved, beaten, her culture was stripped, but it doesn’t end there
My mother, second generation was in and out of foster care for almost a decade, she was abused, and told no one would love an Indian like her, but it doesn’t end there
The genocide of our people isn’t history, it’s alive and well.
To my Indigenous kin, sending so much love, support and prayer, rest and get the support you need.

Sign the petition to respectfully ask Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to call for a National Day of Mourning for the lost children of residential school and the 215 lost loved ones found by the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc community at the Kamloops Indian Residential School
And lastly,
Educate yourself and your family on the genocide that this country is built on, tell the stories the government doesn’t want to be told. There is power and healing in Knowledge.
