"Sometimes I compare my body to a deflated balloon or a melted ice cream cone.
And I think I used to say it negatively.
Which, is a little backwards if you think about it.
Deflated balloons mean they were filled with life and air and celebration. They hold memories of a moment in time that cannot be repeated. It is not a sadness of change, but a happiness for what happened.
Melted ice cream? Are you kidding me? The joys of that! A reminder that nothing stays the same, that even perfect ice cream scoops to be enjoyed - must melt.
Both of these comparisons however, are objects and things.
They’re stuff to make us find relating words and experiences to something so incredibly unique and individual.
Stretch marks, skin hang, new bumps, folds and whatnot.
Maybe I need to let go of the comparisons to objects and experiences.
Reflect within the memories of what all has happened here.
In a body.
Just a body.
But the ground floor of life.
Not deflated.
Not melted.
But lived.
Enjoyed.
And forever changing."
