"When I first found out that I won this award I was a bit flabbergasted.
There’s a part of me that is always going to feel like the 28-year-old version of myself, setting out to follow a dream, scared of what was ahead, but even more afraid of what my life would be like if I didn’t at least try.
For those of you that don’t know, it wasn’t until last year that I felt comfortable with the title CEO.
For 7 years I hid under the unassuming title of “Chief Knixpert," afraid of stepping into something that I felt like I didn’t deserve, even though I had been doing the job since day one.
I’ve grown up so much throughout the course of Knix. Through the power of this community, I’ve been fortunate enough to find my voice.
Our community has always led by example which has encouraged me to continue to grow and evolve as well.
We’re always learning, always growing, always feeling like we’re just getting started.
My dreams have changed— they’re more ambitious and bold now.
But all the fear and uncertainty has subsided because of the support from the Knix community and the incredible team of people who have chosen Knix as their work home. There are a lot of businesses struggling right now. If COVID-19 had happened in one of the early years of Knix, I’m not totally sure how we would have survived.
So for all of the great future founders and CEOs in the making, I encourage everyone to shop local this holiday season.
Call the store down street, order from the local bakery, buy virtual personal training sessions from your nearby gym or just share the places you love on social media.
Whatever way you can, let’s give our entrepreneurial dreamers a reason to dream.”
