It’s been a hectic few weeks. The holidays tend to mark a seemingly endless stream of sales and promotions but, today, we want to take a moment to breathe and honor Giving Tuesday.
Knix has partnered with the Black Women’s Health Imperative (@blkwomenshealth) to create NOURISH — a Postpartum Doula Training Program designed to support Black birthing families. To date, we’ve given $75,000 in scholarships, along with free postpartum care to 80 families. And with your help, ongoing proceeds from Knix’s Maternity and Postpartum Collection will continue to go towards this important program.
The NOURISH Community Doula Program has helped 20 Postpartum Doulas to become fully trained, with certifications provided by the National Black Doula Association. Knix and BWHI joined forces earlier this year to create the program, coining it NOURISH to stand for: New Opportunity to Uncover our Resources, Intuition, Spirit, and Healing.
Through @lifeafterbirth, we continue to bolster the postpartum community and to offer support to those navigating their postpartum journeys. In doing so, it’s important to shine a light on the unique barriers and challenges Black birthing people are faced with during the postpartum period.
Today and everyday, we’re incredibly proud to partner with BWHI and to work together towards raising awareness, providing important resources, and closing the Black maternal health gap.
