In this #lashjoyacademy tutorial by @joylashstylist we demonstrate how to check for (and peel apart) lash stickies to ensure your clients always leave with #damagefreelashes Even the most experienced Lash Stylists will still get stickies (it’s normal to find a few) HOWEVER, the difference between good Lash Stylists and great Lash Stylists is that great Lash Stylists don’t let their clients leave with stickies! If you wear lash extensions and they feel itchy, uncomfortable or like they’re tugging at your skin... that is NOT normal and NOT what eyelash extensions should feel like and chances are you have some stickies causing the discomfort. Lash extensions when applied correctly should feel weightless and like you’re not wearing them at all. So, why are stickies so damaging? When you have 1 or more extensions attached to more than 1 natural lash, this creates a sticky. The issue is that because our natural lashes grow at different speeds (depending on what stage of the lash growth cycle they’re in) the faster growing lashes with extensions attached to them often rip out the slower growing lashes they’re also attached too resulting in a damaged, gappy lash line. This is why correct 1 to 1 application is so important. 3 Tips for Minimising Stickies: 1. Work on both eyes at the same time (not 1 eye at a time) & work in a new area for each extension you apply giving the adhesive extra time to set before working in that area again. I.E Apply outer right, outer left, middle right, middle left, inner right, inner left. 2. Brush Less! Brushing the lashes during an appointment is quite satisfying (and oddly addictive) but over brushing is guaranteed to increase your sticky count and waste time. 3. Baby Sit! This means keep the extension you’ve just applied isolated until you’ve picked up your next extension. These extra few seconds give the adhesive more time to polymerise.
