Introducing our new prints!
The prints from our new collection tell two parts of the same story. We wanted to pay respect to the versatility, beauty and resilience of the Pandanus tree. A tree that can be used to create so many different and beautiful things!
The leaves of the pandanus tree have traditionally been used to create things like mats and dilly bags.
Today, this beautiful plant is also used to create hats, lamp shades and earrings!
The bright warm pink print highlights the process of collecting the pandanus leaves, which are then naturally dyed, to create beautifully coloured string - which is then woven. These colours also represent the more tropical and warm places the pandanus is found.
We wanted to be able to mix earthy brown tones to represent the traditional mats these ancient plants have been used to make.
Our prints are also a metaphor.
The pandanus is so versatile, beautiful and resilient - as are us women! ❤
