⁣Full awareness of the in breath. Full awareness of the out breath. ⠀ ⠀ Adho mukha svanasana (downward facing dog). When beginning yoga, it’s not uncommon to find this posture challenging or uncomfortable. As your practice progresses, this posture will become a posture that you come back to and allow whatever is moving through you to settle. It becomes very grounding throughout the sequence. In saying that, you don’t have to be in a rush to get your heels to the floor. I use each round of the Sun Salutations to allow myself to go deeper. It’s an invitation at the start of the practice to put down all things and take up the way of following the breath. You allow the intelligence of the breath to move through the body and ultimately nourish both body and mind. ⠀ ⠀ Three tips.⠀ •Find a focal point for your eyes to settle (#drishti). It can be between your legs, your navel or your nose. Allow the eyes to soften.⠀ •Gently place your tongue behind the top of the teeth (the roof of your mouth becomes soft) ⠀ •Deep and meaningful breaths (follow the exhalation to completion)⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #anapanasati #sutta #faithinthemethod #mindfulness #herenow
