Becoming a doctor has not only been my dream since I was a little girl, but practicing medicine has been one of the greatest joys of my life. 16 years of schooling, it’s crunch time as is typical for me, I’ve waiting as long as is humanly possible to really hit the books. But more important than what I could ever learn from rememorizing a textbook is what I’ve learned taking care of my patients. The reason we put ourselves through years and years of extra school, countless numbers of exams, grueling hours at the hospital, and time away from family and friends...it is ultimately all for our patients who so graciously put their trust in us and allow us to play an important role in their lives. Never forget why you started and always let that spark guide you and move you forward during challenging times. I promise it is beyond worthwhile in the end.
