--- ¤¤¤ --- *THE MOST COMMON DISEASES IN AMERICA ARE THE MOST COSTLY & THE MOST PREVENTABLE!* --- *THE MOST COMMON DISEASES ARE RELATED TO LIFESTYLE ISSUES- diet, lack of exercise & sleep, poor stress management, tobacco, alcohol...!* --- *MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS ARE THOUGHT TO BE THE THIRD LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN AMERICA!* --- *PILLS HAVE SIDE EFFECTS & DON'T ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF DISEASE!* --- Giving people access to healthcare without giving them access to true quality care- ie. education & counseling, sufficient time spent with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, addressing the root cause of health issues- is not going to help people become healthy. Lowering drug prices is not going to fix anything either, especially when lifestyle issues are the main problem. I sit back & watch how healthcare "reform" continues to miss the big picture. The health insurance companies continue to benefit and dictate how medicine is practiced & all this does is lead to more patients seeing less doctors (who are burnt out) who have less time to see patients. --- Integrative medicine has been proven to reduce healthcare costs & the incidence of chronic disease, so you would think this would be an incentive for our government & insurance companies from a financial standpoint. I'm guessing that pharmaceutical companies & hospital corporations don't benefit so much, which is the reason why we will continue to chase our tails...? I don't know about you, but I think Thomas Edison knew a few things... --- I'd like to open up a discussion about ways we can try to solve our healthcare system's problems. Is the "top" too powerful? Any thoughts on solutions that will actually be well received by a bureaucratic/capitalistic society?
