What's unfortunate about my field is that psychiatrists are generally viewed as pill pushers. However, this view is the very reason why I'm active on social media -- to show that there's psychiatrists out there who want to change the direction & show that we can better address our patients' needs through a more humanistic, holistic & preventive approach rather than creating an over-dependence on meds. And one way to promote that approach is by teaching our future doctors/health care professionals. For awhile I was losing motivation to post on social media until I saw the latest video by @speakoutmedicine which demonstrates that many of our future doctors desire a paradigm shift as well. Therefore as exhausting & isolating as it may feel to want to create change, we can't stop educating & advocating for ourselves and our patients.
