The cat’s out of the bag:* We drop a new, limited edition take on our signature loafer, on Monday, January 23rd at 10AM. But you can pre-shop the Stellato Sacchetto now, via link above.
Maria, our namesake and head of design, worked with one of our partners, Bruna, who owns a 3rd-generation stucco-clad workshop in Tuscany. A note about Bruna: we’ve never seen her without a bold red lip, an old-school frame purse, and heels. Safe to say that creating ladylike flats is very much her bag.* For our Stellato, Bruna and her artisans used the time-honored sacchetto technique that only a few Italian workshops still practice (as it’s a complex design that’s pretty time intensive) where the upper is hand sewn together into one piece without an insole, making the shoe mold to the foot, and flex, with every step.
Together, Maria and Bruna looked through thousands of spools of thread in order to find the exact shade for each of the 5 colors of Santa Croce suede to get just the right amount of contrast. Perfectionist? Yes. Is there any other way to be when it comes to shoes? We think not. (*Pardon the pun. We’ve got bags on the brain as the sneaky perk to this flexible sacchetto design means that these can be folded up in half—making these prime candidates for tossing in the bag for a weekend getaways, an evening switch-out after a day in heels, for errand-running sprints, etc.)
