We love lace, it’s so fun and super feminine. In order to keep it strong enough for footwear, we line it with a special mesh that keeps the sheerness of the lace fully intact while making it strong.
We wanted to play up the transparency of the lace, so we were immediately attracted to a lucite heel, and we really played with it to get it just right. We first tried wrapping the lace around it, but then we realized there was no better way to showcase the gorgeous aesthetic and feeling of the transparency than leaving the clear heel exposed.
The block heel and the round toe really highlight the lace—I think these shoes are just so cool. We purposely made the heel so that you can see the nail that attaches it to the sole; it felt so graphic and we get to show the shoe’s functionality.
