Black visual artist @reynanoriega_, some of her inspiring work, and some of her words on her art and the Black Lives Matter movement: “I’m very sensitive to the woes of the world. Hunger, homelessness, abuse, assault, i feel it all so deeply i needed a way to create more of what i imagined, more of what would uplift me and other Black women and remind them that although they aren’t represented nearly enough in galleries, in media, in leadership we matter. We are worthy and strong and vibrant. I didn’t want to add to the constant trauma we endure by immortalizing it with my art. Instead i wanted to add color, fun, freedom. The world is bleeding. We have a gaping hole that can’t be filled with anymore bandaids. We need to confront this issue head on. Reimagine our communities, how we show up and how we keep our people safe. No more excuses. No more putting people over property. Enough is enough.” ⠀ #AmplifyBlackVoices #AmplifyMelantesVoices #BlackArt #BlackArtist #Illustration
