✨ M I N D F U L N E S S & S E L F — C O M P A S S I O N ✨
Yesterday, I spent the second half of the day in bed. I had ambitious plans for Monday, and was frustrated that a wave of extreme fatigue settled in for the afternoon and evening (britterbeez’s post reminded me that maybe it’s an affect from the full moon? 🤔🌙🥺)
But I called upon my #mindfulnesspractice, and decided to respond to my symptoms with self-compassion, kindness, and support (aka resting, napping, and watching #sellingsunset 😍🌇😅). But what’s the difference between #mindfulness and self-compassion? In this instance:
✨ Mindfulness helps me to accept my circumstances and symptoms.
💛 Self-compassion reminds me to offer my body what it needs.
✨Mindfulness asks, “What am I experiencing right now?”
💛 Self-compassion asks, “What do I need right now?”
✨ Mindfulness says, “Feel your symptoms with spacious awareness.”
💛 Self-compassion says, “Be kind to yourself when you have symptoms and difficult days."
Mindfulness is a core component of self-compassion — it reminds us to follow up awareness with the self-care required for us to grow, love, and thrive. 💕
To practice mindfulness, join me tomorrow night for my regular 7pm CST #virtualmeditation on IG LIVE. XO
