“I am a #womanofthewater for in her graces I find my knees, my softness, my joy and my spirit. I’m half Greek, and a cancer. I have always gravitated towards water. . The Mediterranean woman in me wanted nothing to do with prairie winters and everything to do with tropical blues and long hot baths in the dead of winter. . Then I discovered that beings dance on her. That we’ve created an activity I can do everyday with her—surfing. Where I can exist and float above the orange Gerabaldi fishes and green seaweed and they will stare up and I will look down and they will think I’m not meant to be here, or to understand but I am and I do understand. . I sometimes wonder if God looks down and wonder what the silly humans are doing. Chasing her grooves endlessly on pieces of floating plastic. And then I think, “No, he smiles. He understands.” . The ocean has always been healing—with her salt. She has always listened—with her space and capacity to understand. She has always spoken—spoken to my spirit in the pink and golden flow at sunrise, as the wings of a pelican dance upon her. She has things to say, and I have listened. . In her waters I have found my connection to spirit. I have found my healing. I have found my strength. She reminded me that the knees I thought were toothpicks were actually great mountains. . She is the most forgiving woman on the planet—still welcoming us, after we disgrace her with our waste. I honor her, great mother.” - @jannerobinson .
