Sleep is pertinent to human development, whether that's adult or baby. The average adult needs at least 7-9hours of sleep in order to function at their best, and that's why babies need much more sleep as they're being to develop & understand the world around them. Typically newborn - 3months will need 18hours of sleep in a 24hour period, although they won't sleep for more than 1-3 hours at a time, which is why the first few months can be tiring. In order to grow they need regular feeding, so they're body doesn't allow for them to go into long deep sleeps. ? From 3-6m they will need a little less sleep: usually 14-16hours within in 24hours, with 10-11 of those during the night, so you can finally start to resume regular sleeping patterns. ?? Once they reach 6-9m they need an average of 14hours sleep within 24hours, so they will still be sleeping a lot, but in more regular patterns.? Your little one will need around 11-12 hours of sleep at night once they're 9-12m, with a couple of day time naps, which will last for just over an hour. Always make sure your little one is getting enough sleep - nothing bad ever came from sleeping too much. We also do not recommend that babies younger than 12 months sleep on their front & this gorgeous picture was taken by the lovely @wispyfeatherfarm who's little one is over this age! ? ... #MORImoments #mondaymoening #ministylekids #littleandbrave #momtogs#momtobe #mumtobe #momlife #mumlife#ig_motherhood #motherhoodrising#motherhoodsimplified #simpleliving#instagood #babygirl #babyboy#vsco_mom #letthembelittle #newborn #sleepwell
