The homeowner loved the stone arch surround. We designed around it and since it was built on top of the existing granite which we ended up keeping. This presented a few problems -
1. It limited the type of materials we could use that work with stone and honed granite 2. what to do with the vent hood? 3. how to brighten the space and get rid of the orange stained beams? 4. I hate floating cabinets so how to hide that.... 5. Get rid of posts and double island heights. In the end we rebuilt 1/2 the cabinets, refaced what we could, moved bearing posts to open up island, new msi Arno tops and backsplash, custom quartz vent hood, new beams trim and enamel colors and got rid of the horrid tile floor throughout the kitchen.
