Client Project: Charming Cottage Kitchen! This kitchen makeover makes the most of every inch and every dollar. A combination of rustic touches like the reclaimed wood on the sill together with shiny chrome accents and lots of greenery create a fresh twist on cottage chic!
This kitchen layout is efficient and lets the gorgeous window with Shaws Farmhouse Sink take center stage. As it should be with that garden view!
Removing the soffits let us take the cabinets to the ceiling making the space feel bigger by drawing the eye up. Plus giving more storage space! Moving the stove away from the wall lets the room - and the chef - breathe.
The stools took up valuable real estate. While it was nice to have seating, we needed to make the area more functional. We extended the counter to put stools on the other side, allowing for oversized drawers to store pots and pans. Taking away the hanging pot rack and simplifying the counters and floor all contribute to a more open and calm vibe.
And don’t underestimate lighting! A few well placed high hats go a long way to brighten the space, especially for a kitchen! We did led lights under the counter for extra task lighting too!
The budget and timeline for this makeover had to be the priority. From start to finish it was done in about 8 weeks, including planning! For a great value, we used Forever Mark Vista cabinets. The quartz counters are MSI New Calacatta Laza. Both are in stock and usually ship within 2-3 weeks. A totally realistic way to redo a kitchen!
