One of the most important factors in breaking the cycle of poverty is simply the opportunity to work. In rural villages such as Remolino, these chances have been almost nonexistent. Three years ago, Kenia Maldonado and H&H had an idea to launch a business. Today, Kenia is the leader of 2 farming initiatives in Remolino, and employs over 20 other women! While Kenia is a single mother, she has used her situation as motivation to work hard for her four children. She has even helped change the local ideology as it relates to women. This year, Kenia is sending her daughter to high school! In fact, her daughter will be one of the first and only women to graduate high school from the entire village. ·
