Graffiti artist Astro (@astro_odv_cbs) grabbed his first can of spray paint when he was 18 years old. In the northern suburbs of Paris where he grew up, Astro experimented with letters and wildstyle, a complex form of graffiti where letters are interwoven. Over time, he developed his own unique style. “I kept the calligraphy, but now I create abstract designs and optical illusions,” Astro, now 34, says. Today, in addition to working on street walls, Astro creates canvases in the studio. In the upcoming months, he’ll travel to Portugal, Mexico and back to the US — there’s one spot in Venice Beach, California, he’s got to see again.
