Desirée De León (@dcossyle) reimagines what tiny, everyday objects are capable of communicating. “As a young girl, I performed with a Mexican folklórico group outside of Chicago for eight years. Seeing the folds of the pencil shavings immediately reminded me of my Jalisco dress and how fun it was to create huge waves of colorful fabric when I’d twirl onstage,” says the 27-year-old neuroscience PhD student from Georgia.
