“I think people enjoy my work because it’s something they haven’t really seen before in the surfing world,” says 17-year-old River Covey (@rivercovey). Though he’ll tell you he’s not an artist, the Californian’s work — which combines surf photographs with diverse landscapes and colors — says otherwise. “Surfing is often about taking what other people have done, improvising on it and making new things. That’s what I’m doing here. I don’t really have a set plan when I start, but by the end, I know what I’m going for, and it all just comes together.” ?
