Ryan Smith (@ghost_rogue) is a 33-year-old disabled veteran, full-time dad of four (soon to be five), soccer coach and photographer from Eugene, Oregon, who digs hiking, adventure and good brews. This weekend, as American college football season kicks off, he is rooting for the Ducks.
“That’s my gnome. My kids named him Autzen the Gnome, after the university’s stadium. He goes on all of our camping trips with us. This week, we were near Cape Blanco State Park, the most western point in Oregon, which features a lighthouse, a rugged coastline and steep cliffs. We were hanging out around the campfire talking about watching the Ducks game on Saturday. I pulled out my camera to take a shot of Autzen, with the forest above, to get a good capture of Oregon’s natural beauty, but also to celebrate kicking off college football. He’s our lucky charm. He’s currently sitting on our fireplace mantle anxiously awaiting the game.”
