Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPemojisinthewild To explore the creative possibilities of hashtagged emojis — a new feature enabled earlier this week (#?) — this weekend’s hashtag challenge is to capture real-life examples of your favorite emojis. “Look for things that appear in your day-to-day life you may have otherwise overlooked or considered to be mundane,” says Jacob Sharp (@thejacobsharp), a Kansas City, Missouri, high school art teacher who coined the #emojisinthewild hashtag in November 2011. “Photos that are posed or staged defeat the spirit of the hashtag.” Some tips to get you started: To make emoji-hunting easier, familiarize yourself with the full set of emojis, especially the obscure ones. Tell a story by stringing together multiple emojis into a single hashtag. In your caption, make sure to include the relevant hashtagged emoji (#??) in addition to #WHPemojisinthewild. PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPemojisinthewild hashtag only to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any tagged image taken over the weekend is eligible to be featured Monday morning. For more examples and inspiration, check out blog.instagram.com. Featured photo by @sreevathsav
