Poet Rio Jones (@riojones7) of Albuquerque, New Mexico isn’t sure if he writes poems because the real world is too much, or not enough. “Poetry helps me reach a bit into that other world — that world we all live in while we are in between sleep and consciousness,” he says. Rio first started writing poetry as a kid when he became smitten with Little League baseball. “I remember coming home after practice one night and writing about the dust rising off of the infield on a foggy morning. After that, I sort of just never stopped.” On Instagram, Rio shares photos of the poetry he writes on his typewriter. “I always enjoyed writing on my typewriter, but in this digital world it seemed pointless because I’d ultimately have to type it up on a computer to share it,” he says. “A picture really does say a thousand words, even when the picture actually has only 40 or 50 words in them.” Photo by @riojones7
