“I think eyes are the windows to the heart,” says Seoul-based artist and animator Mari Kim (@marikim1004). She first started drawing the character “Eyedoll” over 10 years ago, and has been exploring variations of this figure, known for its big eyes and brightly colored face, ever since. “I’m trying to confront the fixed ideas of femininity projected by mainstream media and contemporary culture,” Mari says. “The eye is the wormhole connecting inner life with the outside world.” Photo by @marikim1004
