For this week's #ArtThursday, we're taking a look at American artist James Turrell who makes art out of light. Turrell explains, "Rather than be someone who painted light or depicted light in some way, I wanted to have the work be light." Through large-scale installations made specifically for certain places, he explores and challenges the ideas of perception, color and space. Want to see a Turrell in person? The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (@lacma), the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston (@mfahouston) and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York (@guggenheim) are all running concurrent exhibitions through the summer. You can also see more photos and videos of his work by browsing the #JamesTurrell hashtag and tapping the blue location page above this image. Photo by @guggenheim
