Tribal scarring, an ancient practice that used to be commonplace in Sudan, involves marking the skin, mainly to identify tribal affiliation or as a symbol of attractiveness. Markings on figurines in Sudan from 6th millennium BC(6000 BC to 5001 BC ) point towards practices such as tattooing and scarification. After 8000 years, we are witnessing the practice dying out as now only older Sudanese folks have any sign of this ancient practice.
