Limited Iranian Farvahar Fundraiser
All proceeds until Feb 15 go to @centerforhumanrights - an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to protect and promote human rights in Iran.
The Faravahar is the best-known symbol of ancient Persia - with the winged sun disk and a seated male figure in the center. It is thought to represent Ahura Mazda, the god of Zoroastrianism. This twist on the traditional design replaces the man with a woman and incorporates the national slogan of the ongoing Protests - زن زندگی آزادی - woman, life, freedom.
The slogan can be traced to the Kurdish women's movement, which was founded on grassroots activism in response to persecution from the government of Iran. It became a rallying cry during the ongoing protests, which started as a response to the death of Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish woman.
