A Bicharin soldier in Egypt 🇪🇬 or Sudan 🇸🇩, c.1890. The Bicharin are a tribe of the Beja nomadic ethnic group that live in eastern Egypt and Sudan. They speak the Beja language which is a Cushitic language, unlike most other people living in Egypt and Sudan who speak Arabic, a Semitic language.
