Three men hanging out at the Great Court of the Temple of Isis, Philae, Egypt 🇪🇬 c.1862 // #NativeThreads . The first religious building in Philae was built by the pharaoh Taharqa in the 600’s BC. For context of how old that is, in 600 BC Rome was nothing but a small village. It’s also 2000 years after the Pyramids of Giza were built. Taharqa was one of the "Black Pharaohs" who ruled over Egypt for nearly a century . The temple complex was completely dismantled and moved to nearby Agilkia Island before the 1970 completion of the Aswan High Dam.
