The Beja are a large tribal people living across Sudan and parts of Egypt and Eritrea. The majority of Beja people speak the Beja language as a mother tongue, which belongs to the Cushitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic family - as opposed to the semetic Arabic that most other Sudanese speak.
