Fact: The Prophet‘s mosque was almost destroyed in the 1920’s due to a mass destruction campaign by Wahhabi/Salafi militants but was saved due to its hardened structure. The tomb was, however, stripped of its gold and jewel ornaments and countless other Islamic buildings were destroyed in Medina and Makkah.
