Every tree tells a story: the pear tree that survived 9/11, the apple tree that illustrated the law of gravity, pines that live thousands of years and enrich the soil. Trees have inspired our favorite fiction: Robin Hood’s hideout in Sherwood Forest, the Faraway Tree with its enchanting inhabitants, and the barren tree that magically produces a giant peach for James. Trees have also informed our metaphors: our ideas blossom and bear fruit, the apple never falls too far from the tree, we turn a new leaf, and even our problems are deep-rooted.
For all that the trees have given us, we're compelled to give back.
Our current project with Grow Trees Foundation (@growtrees_global) is in the Sunderbans, an already fragile biosphere that took a beating earlier this year by cyclone Amphan, but its existing mangroves shielded the mainland from even worse impact than the region saw.
Thanks to you, we’ve planted 4322 trees so far (and counting!). Today on World Soil Day, you can play your part as well: gift someone a clump, grove or woodland of trees. These green gifts will help enrich the soil and live on in the Sunderbans forever.
