What is that...? 🍎 STORY TIME: On the 6th of June, a surprise hailstorm hit John’s apple orchard. It was the worst hailstorm the farm had seen in 30 years, hitting nearly half of the young apples. The impact wasn’t immediately obvious: the scarring looked marble-sized, but as they grew, the apples developed these tiny blemishes on their skin... Turns out the marks are superficial and the apples as delicious as ever, but John was left with a dilemma: 500 tonnes of ridiculously fresh apples (40% of his crop) with little spots all over their skins that supermarkets won’t take. What options was John left with? Head over to our stories to read the full rescue story 📦 And swipe left to see John and one of the bee havens at the farm 🐝 PS: Martyn, our sourcing manager (the person who finds what needs rescuing and ensures your boxes are filled each week), snapped these pictures at the farm. We’ve praised Martyn for his photographic skills, but please show some love below so we can convince him to continue to bring us shots like these, fresh from the farm 😬
