it’s been one week since we sent an open letter and a cake to the @tiktok_uk London head office, and we have an update! 👀
they haven’t replied to a single message, dm or email.
we need your help @tiktok_uk đź’–
unfortunately, we live in a world where periods are still feared, reviled and censored — so much so, that one poll found that 58% of people who bleed claimed to have experienced period shaming at one point in their lives.
why is it that our society has such a deep-rooted disgust of period blood?
why are other forms of blood — take nose bleeds or body horror — viewed so indifferently in comparison?
this demonisation of period blood has far-reaching psychological effects on people who bleed. those who menstruate grow up believing their bodies are unsafe, unsanitary, and something to be censored. this is where you come in @tiktok_uk you have the power to share the truth, that periods are not disgusting or un-clean, please allow us to openly talk about periods. đź’ž
