🩸🩸 PERIOD BLOOD ISN'T SCARY 🩸🩸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ as we celebrate spooky szn today, let's reunite and shout from the rooftops that period blood is one thing we should never be scared of or ashamed of. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ we've all seen the bright blue liquid used in period advertising in lieu of actual period blood, the social media bans on any imagery showing period stains, and the general advertising ethos that says we can bleed, but not in public. until 1972, period advertising was not allowed on mainstream televisions, and even after this it was restricted to what they could say. in 2021, we'd like to think we've come a long way from this, but social media conglomerates *naming no names...cough cough* STILL ban ads that contain period blood, nipples, and even the word vagina. 🙄🙄 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ our period blood is nothing to shy away from, and it shouldn't be dismissed. hiding period blood away, or replacing it with blue liquid [wtf], reinforces the social stigma surrounding periods - and we just won't bloody have it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ share this post loud and proud, and leave the spooky stuff to the underworld. 👻
