🎶 I’m a barbie girl, in a sexist wo-orld, my pads are plastic, cramps are drastic…🎶 Dysmenorrhea (aka cramps) affects a whopping half of those of us with uteruses, with 1 in 5 of us experiencing cramps bad enough to regularly interfere with daily activities. in some countries, such as Japan, Italy, South Korea, and Indonesia, you’re allowed to take days off work for your period. supporters reckon it stops people who experience particularly rough periods having to use up their regular sick days on them. detractors say it could encourage further discrinimation in the workplace by suggesting women and people who bleed aren’t as fit for the workplace as people who don’t. so, uh, a bloody conundrum to say the least. what are your thoughts on tackling the very real realities of shitty periods, period taboos in the workplace, and developing inclusive work practises... *without* accidentally making discrimination or taboos worse?
