It's endometriosis awareness month and typically, I’m in bed recovering from a nasty flare up.
Tuesday afternoon, as I couldn't get the pain to die down myself, I had to go to A&E. This is my second flare up in two months and I am exhausted. After I had the coil fitted, I had a year of minimal symptoms but now, my nasty symptoms are back.
I really did question whether to share this, but I do find it reassuring to read other people's stories when I am feeling like this. And so, if you have endo and are reading this, I see you 🧡
I am back at the doctors and hope to get some answers soon. One thing I am also promising myself to do is to research the condition and learn about it. Up until now, I have been too overwhelmed to dive into it. So, the lovely lot at @wildnutritionltd sent me their founder, Henrietta's, book 'Taking Control of your Endometriosis' and I am committed to making small changes to my diet and lifestyle to see if it will help.
For those who don't know, endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Endometriosis affects roughly 10% of people who bleed and it takes an average of 8-10 years to get a diagnosis. It's an incredibly painful condition but it also causes extreme fatigue, digestive issues and migraines.
This month, we'll be working as a team to do what we can to raise awareness of the condition and ways to help.
