Five steps we are taking as a business⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ 1. Following our initial donation to the @naacp we now plan to work more closely with businesses/groups impacted in our local communities. This will likely be in the form of financial contributions as well as our time and business resources, while also retaining a focus on our overall mission of delivering the benefits of digestive health (reduced sugar intake; increased fiber, and nutrient diversity) to underserved populations. ⁣ ⁣ 2. Our internal culture is based on diversity, openness, and belonging, but we recognize that bias will likely always exist nonetheless. All our employees will have the option to take an implicit bias test in order to support their own awareness. ⁣ ⁣ 3. While we are not subject matter experts on issues of civil rights and racial inequality, we have made a list of resources available to our team from people who are. We are working to educate ourselves further so that the business decisions we make on a day to day basis are continually made within a more conscious framework. ⁣ ⁣ 4. The natural products industry that we operate in is one that has traditionally suffered from a lack of diversity. We have already taken steps in our own recruitment policy to address this (primarily by recruiting from outside the industry) with some success. We have now decided to go even further, starting by opening up a new entry-level sales position for our Southern California region that will be specifically reserved for applicants from underserved communities. ⁣ ⁣ 5. Since our inception as a company, we have worked to meet consumers where they are and create a safe space focused on belonging. Regardless of your race, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc. health and wellness is a space where everyone deserves to feel welcome. We already collaborate with a diverse range of creative talent from different backgrounds, and we now plan to accelerate this aspect of our marketing to support an experience of belonging and community.
