NYCB Spring Gala 2023 🤍 Since this was the first spring gala back since before Covid (dancers weren’t invited last year due to rising cases) you know I had to do something special, and what is more special than honoring the legacy of New York City Ballet. I designed this look as an homage to Barbra Karinska’s incredible costumes for Balanchine’s ‘La Valse’. When I was at SAB I remember watching ‘La Valse’ over and over, always obsessed with the glamour and the tragedy of it all. I also took inspiration from Daniel Rosenberry for Schiaparelli with the structured bodice and the hat.
