I was born in Washington DC, and spent the first 32 years of my life there. What I didn’t know, until I explored the world a little bit, was that I am actually a mountain girl. The first time I landed at the Aspen airport I felt something change in me. It was like all the molecules that make up my body shifted by some tiny fraction and suddenly I could breathe more fully - as if I had finally come home.
Now, I feel like these mountains and I are here to watch over each other. They make me feel safe, protected, and humble as we raise our daughters in their midst.
