The Ottlites were 40% off and I had a gift card, I never knew how much I needed a new lamp until I got this. It's perfect. My art desk is in the living room. That's the only place we have for it and it's nice to hang out with hubby while I draw. BUT we kept bickering about the light situation. The overhead light he complains is too bright, for me too low. And my old desk lamp was way too bright and making my eyes burn, plus it casted awkward shadows no matter which way I faced it. I do most of my art at night when baby is asleep so proper lighting is a must. My coloring was suffering. This Ottlight is a "natural light" and so much easier on my eyes.
