[ad] [long but worth it] From 1:36am until 3:06am last night I tried everything I could to get wide-awake Franky to fall back asleep, keeping our gorgeous new ottlite_official lamp dimmed so I wouldn’t fall asleep myself — nursing, rocking, trying the pacifier, patting his little butt + nursing once again. And at 3:06am while I was lying him back down in his crib so I could get a couple hours of shut eye, Ava just so happened to wake up at the exact same time. This never happens — she never wakes up in the middle of the night. And this time she’s inconsolable, immediately waking Franky back up after all of my hard work.

So there are times when Ava is upset and we just need to leave her alone to calm down herself — attempting to help her only makes it worse and so, I grabbed Franky and brought him back to our room with me as Ava screamed and cried about the hall light being too bright, not being able to find the stuffed animal she was sleeping with, and the list goes on. And I was a total grump at this time — I yelled down the hall telling Ava she needed to stop and that she had woken Franky up.

About five minutes later, Ava yells “Mama, me need to tell you something!” I ignored it. Two more times she yelled the same thing out and I ignored it once again. And then finally she yelled it a fourth time and I yelled back, “What do you need to tell me, Ava?”

... “Mama, me sorry for waking up baby Franky.” Cue the tears 😭 How is my baby girl so perfect and how do I learn to be just like her? .
